Dear NYC Trip Student Participants,
You are ALL invited to be a part of the choir that performs in St. John The Divine. We will combine to perform with singers from San Angelo Central High School in San Angelo, TX. Click the link below and add the rehearsals to your calendar!

9th-11th Grade Choir Registration Information for Next Year

Dear CHS Choir 9th-11th Graders and Parents,
Thank you for being a part of the CHS Choir Program this year! We strongly encourage you to join us again next year. As you know, significant growth as a singer takes investment over time. Over the next few weeks all CHS and NT@C Learners will be registering for classes for next year. We hope to give you some reminders that should help through this process:

All students at CHS & NT@C may register for ANY choir class for next year that their counselors will allow. If there is a need for a correction after they have registered to move them to another choir class, the CHS Choir Directors will contact both the parents AND the counselors. If your singer knows another student who would like to join, just tell them to sign up! Then we will reach out to them at some point before the start of school next year.

Here are recommended guidelines of what to sign up for:

Current A Cappella Choir Members – register for A Cappella

Current 10th Grade Girls – register for either A Cappella or Chorale
-
Current 9th Grade Girls – register for Kantorei
-
Current Men’s Choir Men – register for A Cappella or Chorale

If you believe you have scheduling conflicts, we recommend reaching out to a choir director before choosing not to sign up for choir again. Hopefully we can help you work through conflicts on the front end.

A Cappella will be the only choir that is double blocked. Keep in mind that all learners will gain an extra spot in their schedule so it should not feel like you are giving up two of seven periods. Double blocking is not unusual for schools that are on this type of schedule.

Vivace, Respira, Madrigals will require NO additional courses (zero hours, etc.). Madrigals will rehearse during the A Cappella period and have some outside rehearsals. Respira and Vivace will have their normal Monday/Thursday Rehearsals.

All singers in choir are required to complete the Choir Midterm Project through this link by 2/13/17. CLICK HERE TO VIEW This is what we will use to audition singers for next year as well as for the music portion of Vivace for THIS year.

Choir Registration Information 2017-2018 FOR PARENTS

Dear Freshmen through Junior Choir Parents,
It is that time of year when CHS Students start to select which courses will be on their schedules for next school year. We hope your singers will remain in choir next year and want to provide for you the following registration information to assist you and your singer know which choir class they should register for:
Current 9th Grade Girls – Register for Kantorei, which will NOT be double blocked
Current 9th – 11th Grade Boys – Register for either Chorale Mixed Choir (not double blocked) or A Cappella which WILL be double blocked
Current 10th – 11th Grade Girls – Register for either Kantorei (not double blocked) or A Cappella which WILL be double blocked
We will be using our Choir Mid Term Project as our auditions for next year as well as for auditions for Vivace for this year. Hopefully this will simplify the process for our students. The link has been shared with them and you are welcome to look at it as well:

Each singer has nearly a month to complete this project which will be a major project grade for choir. Should they need any support from us or experience any problems, feel free to direct them our way.

Dear A Cappella Parents and Singers,
Here is a reminder related to tomorrow’s rehearsals:
During the Block Schedule Pilot, we will not have rehearsal on January 4 and 6. On January 5, we will have the following rehearsal schedule:
8th Period Rehearsal – 1:17-2:42 – Juniors and Seniors ONLY
5th Period Rehearsal -9:28-10:53 – ALL A CAPPELLA CHOIR MEMBERS
Thanks to those who auditioned for solos and duets last night! The following individuals will be soloists on Hlohonolofatsa: Daniel Kim & Bharathi Caldwell. The following singers will need to be prepared to sing the duet parts on Invictus: Ria Dua, Ardi Saunders, Riya Mahesh, Isabella Ventura, Amelia Vanya, and Soundarya Daliparthy.
A reminder that we have a mandatory parent meeting at 6:30 pm on Monday (1/9).

A reminder that we have a rehearsal tomorrow from 4:30-7:30 in the CHS Choir Room. Dinner will be provided after the rehearsal. We also have a Mandatory Parent Meeting on 1/9/16 at 6:30 PM in the Choir Room.
