Tomorrow we host the CISD Elementary Honor Choir all day preparing for their performance tomorrow evening.  Please help us out in reminding your singers the following information:

Three Singers to Represent Coppell ISD in the TMEA All-State Choirs

Congrats to Coppell High School’s newest All State Choir Members – Priya Desai (Senior), Robyn Okereke (Senior),  and Maha Haque (Junior)!

We are proud of all 17 (13 participants and 4 alternates) of the singers that represented CHS at the Area Choir Audition on January 11, 2015 at Midway High School in Waco, TX as well as the over 150 singers from CHS who participated in the All-State Process this year.

The Texas Music Educator’s Association (TMEA) sponsors the Texas All-State audition process to promote students’ dedication to their musical knowledge and skill and to encourage TMEA member directors to support their students in this development.

All-State is the highest honor a Texas music student can receive. Over 1,500 students are selected through a process that begins with over 55,000 students from around the state vying for this honor to perform in one of 13 ensembles (bands, orchestras, and choirs). This competitive process begins throughout the state in auditions hosted by 28 TMEA Regions. Individual musicians perform selected music for a panel of judges who rank each instrument or voice part. From this ranking, a select group of musicians advances from their Region to compete against musicians from other Regions in seven TMEA Area competitions. The highest-ranking musicians judged at the TMEA Area competitions qualify to perform in a TMEA All-State music group. These All-State students participate in three days of rehearsals directed by nationally recognized conductors during the annual state TMEA Clinic/Convention which will be February 13-16 in San Antonio, TX. Their performances before thousands of attendees bring this extraordinary event to a close.

Area Information Update

Dear Area Parents and Students,

It was just released moments ago that the Texas Music Educator’s Association has decided to once again delayed our Area Contest until Sunday Afternoon at 1 PM. It is my understanding that we will follow the same schedule that was planned for tomorrow which would mean we would return to Coppell by 10 PM Sunday evening at the earliest.

We realize that this is not ideal the week of final exams; however, it is not a Coppell ISD decision. We have made arrangements to house our singers again tomorrow night in Waco, and will plan to allow time for studying during the day tomorrow.

Keep in mind that any student may withdraw themselves from this contest at anytime if their parents are willing to come pick them up. Please let me know if you have any questions. We will do our best to keep you up to date and keep your singers safe.

Updated Area Information – PLEASE READ

Hello Area Singers and Parents,

Thanks for your patience and understanding as we deal with inclement weather as it relates to the Area Audition.  Please be aware that CHS and CISD have NO control or input on scheduling of these auditions.  The decisions we do make are done so with our students’ safety as our top priority.  Below is the most up-to-date information that I have at this time:

  1. Feel free to review the Area Information paperwork that I sent to you by email on 12/29/14, 12/16/14 and 11/21/14 by clicking here as much of the information is still relevant.  We still plan to depart during 6th period today to avoid traffic through downtown Dallas.

  1. The audition is now scheduled to begin at 1 PM on Saturday with NO dinner break.  We will eat as soon as we leave the audition.  You will still be given the $10 for snacks in the concession stand from the CHS Choir Boosters.  There is a possibility it will be moved again to Sunday at 1 PM if the weather remains poor.

  1. We have now received administrative approval and have made the hotel arrangements to stay in Waco on Saturday night.  The weather conditions do not look safe for driving conditions that night at this point.  Hotel cost will be paid for by the CHS Choir Boosters at NO additional cost to our singers. Additional meals will be at the students’ expense.  We will keep those fast-food which should be low cost.

  1. We will keep you up-to-date to any further information through email and www.coppellchoir.com.
  1. They are welcome to drop off their belongings in the Vivace! Room this morning before school.

Let us know if you have any questions!  Very proud of each of these singers!  Happy New Year!
